It was a good run, but the Paradise Panthers unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a serious blow against Seminole, falling 63-34. While losing is never fun, Paradise can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 189th, while Seminole is ranked 37th).
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gazey Yates, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds. Those seven rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Morgan Mitschke, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Paradise's defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-5. As for Seminole, they pushed their record up to 17-3 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home.
Paradise will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Maypearl at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. Seminole won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Sunnyvale at 10:30 a.m. on December 29th. Sunnyvale is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
