They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 93-59 win over John Adams Academy. Given Fortune Early College's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 483rd, while John Adams Academy is ranked 1135th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fortune Early College was led to victory by Omarion Davis and Darien Taubodo. Davis scored 18 points, while Taubodo scored 21 points. That's the first time this season that Taubodo scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Thompson, who scored 13 points.
John Adams Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Isaiah McKee, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds, and Josh Harris who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Harris also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Connor McCoy, who scored six points along with five steals.
Fortune Early College has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-10 record this season. As for John Adams Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-6.
Fortune Early College will take on Westlake Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Westlake Charter is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.5 points per game. John Adams Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Pine Hills Adventist at 6:30 p.m. on January 10th. Pine Hills Adventist is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
