Leetonia is 10-0 against McKinley since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Leetonia Bears will be playing at home against the McKinley Trojans at 1:00 p.m. Leetonia comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last 13 games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Leetonia suffered their biggest loss since December 4, 2023 on Monday. They were outmatched by Southern at home and fell 60-19. While losing is never fun, Leetonia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 804th, while Southern is ranked 361st).
Meanwhile, McKinley took a serious blow against Mineral Ridge on Thursday, falling 63-19. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for McKinley in their matchups with Mineral Ridge: they've now lost six in a row.
Leetonia's loss was their sixth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-13. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.7 points per game. As for McKinley, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.
Leetonia strolled past McKinley in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 by a score of 43-26. Will Leetonia repeat their success, or does McKinley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
