The Ringgold Redskins waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They strolled past Homer with points to spare, taking the game 69-52. Given Ringgold's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while Homer is ranked 272nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ringgold's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jordyn Wilson, who scored 23 points along with five steals and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Wilson posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Jbari Adams, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 17 rebounds.
Ringgold's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-9. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.8 points per game. As for Homer, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ringgold won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Arcadia at 6:30 p.m. on February 10th. Arcadia knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 games -- so hopefully Ringgold likes a good challenge. Homer is on the road again on Tuesday and plays Evangel Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on February 13th.
