Cranston East extended the longest winning streak in Division I this week by beating East Providence, 42-20. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Thunderbolts.
Bishop Hendricken made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,394 from 1,613. The advance stemmed from a 36-0 victory over Cranston West last week.
Matt Greenman had a great week catching the football as Portsmouth bested Tolman. He caught five passes for 223 yards.
Anthony Francis provided a threat through the air and on the ground as La Salle Academy beat South Kingstown. He completed 12 passes for 275 yards and three touchdowns and also ran for 81 yards. Francis' favorite target this week was Keon Wilson, who caught four passes for 100 yards.
Austin Szczepaniak was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 164 yards on 20 carries as the Patriots defeated the Tigers. Teammate Chavous Bobby added to the ground attack by rushing for 66 yards.
ALEX CORVESE put up the best numbers through the air as Cranston East bested the Townies. He finished with a total of 11 completions for 172 yards and four touchdowns. CORVESE's favorite target this week was MARQUEM MONROE, who caught five passes for 111 yards.
Portsmouth's Bobby and Greenman have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Bobby has thrown for 1121 yards this season, while Greenman, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 18 catches for 571 yards. The Rams' Josh Morris leads the league in rushing yards with 570.
The marquee game in Division I this week will be the clash between Tolman and Barrington. David Caito's team enters the game ranked 11th in the state, while the Eagles ranks 16th.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Thomas Centore's team takes on the Hawks. The Thunderbolts' offense has racked up 211 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Bishop Hendricken has allowed only 28 on the year.
