The East Wake Warriors lost against the Hunt Warriors back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. East Wake received a tough blow as they fell 46-28 to the Warriors.
East Wake's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Cadyn Edwards, who scored four points along with 12 rebounds and four steals, and Erica Rawlings who scored six points along with 12 rebounds and three steals. Rawlings has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played.
Even though they lost, East Wake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hunt only pulled down five offensive rebounds.
Ti'asia Taylor continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hunt, scoring 17 points along with two steals. Taylor is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played. Gracelynn Wolzen was another key contributor, scoring five points along with 11 rebounds.
East Wake's loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Hunt, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-10 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Wake won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Golden Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Hopefully C.B. Aycock focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 last Friday. As for Hunt, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Smithfield-Selma comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last 15 games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
