Avenal suffered their biggest loss since December 8, 2023 on Friday. They were dealt a 69-30 loss at the hands of Coalinga. While losing is never fun, Avenal can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1217th, while Coalinga is ranked 547th).
Meanwhile, Tranquillity's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They fell 49-37 to Riverdale. Tranquillity has struggled against Riverdale recently, as their matchup on Wednesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Avenal's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Tranquillity, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season.
