Football Recap: Carmel Starts Season with Win Against Fishers

Carmel had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Fishers Tigers 49-24 on Friday. The Greyhounds have beaten the Tigers the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Tigers has come to flipping the script.

Fishers lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ryan Thembulembu, who rushed for 125 yards and one TD, and also picked up 33 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was Gage Sturgill, who threw for 250 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Coming up, Carmel will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Westfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fishers, they will head out on the road to challenge Lawrence North at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
