West Scranton is a perfect 10-0 against Scranton since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Invaders will venture away from home to face off against the Knights at 4:30 p.m. Scranton took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on West Scranton, who comes in off a win.
West Scranton took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Scranton Prep 9-2. The result was nothing new for the Invaders, who have now won seven games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Kaleiah Connor was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Brianna Connor was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Mia Tallo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.
West Scranton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 16 runs the game before, Scranton was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They came up short against North Pocono, falling 12-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Knights in their meetings with the Trojans: they've now lost five in a row.
West Scranton's record is now 10-8. As for Scranton, their loss dropped their record down to 3-15.
West Scranton was able to grind out a solid victory over Scranton in their previous matchup back in April, winning 3-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Invaders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
