The Maret Frogs are ranked highly in their home state, and on Tuesday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of the St. Andrew's Episcopal Lions. Maret blew past the Lions 58-38. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Maret just coasted through the last quarter.
It was another big night for Kennedy Austin, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Claire Mathews was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Despite the loss, St. Andrew's Episcopal had strong showings from Sophia Brooks, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds, and Lamaria Estridge, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Brooks has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 12 times she's played.
Maret has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for St. Andrew's Episcopal, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Maret will take on the Panthers at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Potomac School is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for St. Andrew's Episcopal, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m.
