Even though the Burgin Bulldogs scored an imposing 65 points on Thursday, the Bluegrass United Bluehawks still came out on top. Bluegrass United skirted past the Bulldogs 67-65. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Bluegrass United.
Bluegrass United's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jeremiah Stiefel, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. Stiefel has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Sammy King was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with two steals.
Bluegrass United now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Burgin, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-18.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bluegrass United is on the road again on Monday and plays the Bearcats at 7:30 p.m. on February 5th. As for Burgin, they will challenge the Commanders at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Washington County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Bulldogs in Kentucky (the Commanders are ranked 44th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 266th).
