Estefania Montana made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Mercado, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Coronado and Morse had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Islanders came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tigers on Tuesday, sneaking past 5-4. The game was the first time the Islanders have beaten the Tigers on their field since April 14, 2022.
Maren Thompson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Krystal Davis was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Samantha Aldworth was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
San Diego's defeat dropped their record down to 10-12-1. As for Coronado, their win bumped their record up to 13-7-1.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. San Diego has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .450. However, it's not like Coronado struggles in that department as they've averaged .435. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
