The Jefferson Raiders will face off against the White River Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Jefferson has given up an average of 12.8 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Wednesday just wasn't the day for Jefferson's offense. They came up short against Enumclaw on Wednesday, falling 18-0. The loss continues a trend for the Raiders in their meetings with the Hornets: they've now lost seven in a row.
Meanwhile, White River got the win against Beamer on Thursday by a conclusive 20-11. Considering the Hornets have won six matchups by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Elliotte Kajita made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run.
In other batting news, White River got a massive performance out of Kennedy Selander, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with seven RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Those four hits gave Selander a new career-high. Another player making a difference was McKenna Charlton, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base.
White River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
White River is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.9 runs over those games. As for Jefferson, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Jefferson hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .368. However, it's not like White River struggles in that department as they've averaged .383. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Jefferson might still be hurting after the 14-1 loss they got from White River in their previous matchup last Wednesday. Will the Raiders have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
