The Whitehorse Raiders scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Monument Valley 96-75. The victory was some much needed relief for Whitehorse as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Whitehorse had a senior duo take command as Lyric Phillips scored 33 points and Larenz Tsosie scored 29 points. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Phillips has scored at least a third of Whitehorse's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Dance, who scored ten points.
Monument Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Melias Cly, who scored 30 points. That was a full 40% of Monument Valley's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Joshua Hicks was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Whitehorse's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-11. As for Monument Valley, their defeat was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-16.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Monticello the next time they take the court. Monument Valley will host Monticello at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Whitehorse will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
