The Fort Morgan Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 66-31 loss at the hands of Mountain View. Fort Morgan has not had much luck with Mountain View recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the loss, Fort Morgan saw an underclassman step up: Charlotte Marquez scored 15 points along with five rebounds. It was the first time this season that Marquez scored 15 or more points.
Fort Morgan struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-4) when they can't control their own glass like that.
Addison Branscum was her usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks for Mountain View. Branscum is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Caroline Soliz was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
Fort Morgan's defeat was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-15. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.5 points per game. As for Mountain View, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-5.
