Basketball Recap: York Country Day's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

York Country Day put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against the Kennett Blue Demons by a score of 71-59. Given York Country Day's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Kennett is ranked 394th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

York Country Day's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sincere Burgos led the charge by putting up 13 points in addition to seven assists and four steals. Burgos has been hot, having posted four or more steals the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnson Ilonga, who posted 15 points and four steals.

York Country Day's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Kennett, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. York Country Day will venture away from home to square off against East Juniata at 7:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025. As for Kennett, they will head out to challenge Oxford at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday.
