Softball Recap: Aledo Drops Highest Score of Season Against Saginaw

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Aledo). They never let the Saginaw Rough Riders get on the board and left with a 19-0 win on Tuesday. The Bearcats haven't had any issues with the Rough Riders recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

RYLEE MARX made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Aledo let AUSTYN MARRIAGE and KYLEIGH PAWLAK run wild. MARRIAGE got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run and two RBI, while PAWLAK went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The dominant performance gave MARRIAGE a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of MARINA TAVERAS, who scored three runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Aledo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Saginaw only posted an OBP of .200.

Aledo pushed their record up to 15-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Saginaw, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.

Looking ahead, Aledo will take on Granbury at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Aledo's pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so Granbury's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Saginaw, they will face off against Chisholm Trail at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Chisholm Trail has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.82 runs per game on average), something Saginaw will no doubt try to take advantage of.
