Lodi moved up to 615 from 683 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in San Joaquin Athletic Association. The Flames were able to move up by beating Calaveras 40-38.
Chavez lost to Stagg 50-25 last week, the largest margin of any game. Darin Gentry in the loss.
Lodi's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. David Simon threw for 221 and 4 touchdowns and Anthony Jory had 90 yards receiving. On the ground Simon chipped in 72 yards. Timothy Sanguinetti helped Lodi's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 84 yards.
Robert Sperling's team's dynamic duo of Simon and Jory proved to be unstoppable against the Redskins, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Sanguinetti helped Lodi's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 84 yards.
6-foot-2 quarterback Anthony Shuemake of Franklin is the league leader in passing yards this season with 864. He has also thrown 9 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Gentry. The Chavez star has 17 catches for 319 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Tracy takes on second place Franklin.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when Chavez's Gentry goes up against the Flames' Daniel Anaforian.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when the Yellowjackets and Tracy face off next week.
There should be lots of points scored when the Bulldogs and Franklin face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Tracy comes in having scored 176 this season, while Scott Behnam's team has scored 138.
