Baseball Recap: Bryant Has No Trouble Against Long Island City

Bryant's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They put the hurt on the Long Island City Bulldogs with a sharp 15-1 victory. Considering the Owls have won four contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Emmanuel Banner and Francisco Medrano made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Banner didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Medrano tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Banner has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Banner went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Medrano went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Medrano a new career-high.

In other batting news, Christian Cepin was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most home runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Kevin Mota was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Bryant lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

With the win, Bryant broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-5. As for Long Island City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.

Long Island City has already played their next matchup (against Bryant), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. The Owls will be paying especially close attention to the Bulldogs' game: after the Bulldogs face off against the Owls, they'll take on the Owls again at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
