The Sabinal Yellowjackets scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They claimed a resounding 89-30 victory over La Pryor at home. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 64-21.
Sabinal's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joseph Contreras led the charge by scoring 29 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks. Contreras continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tre Morgan, who went 6 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 4 assists.
The win got Sabinal back to even at 11-11. As for La Pryor, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-16.
Sabinal will head out on the road to square off against Brackett at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Brackett is ranked 1310th, while Sabinal is ranked 1292nd). As for La Pryor, they will be playing at home against Stockdale at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Stockdale is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
