The Chowchilla Tribe will square off against the Dos Palos Broncos at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chowchilla's hitters haven't had much luck over their past four games, but Tuesday's match will give them a chance to turn things around.
Chowchilla's tournament run continued when they took on Kingsburg on Saturday. Chowchilla took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Kingsburg.
Chowchilla saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Avery Tomlinson, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-4. Hadley Ray also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Dos Palos made easy work of Pacheco on Friday and carried off a 10-1 win.
Breann Raney made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over seven innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (zero). She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases.
In other batting news, Carley Brinkley was incredible, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Samantha VonAllman, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Dos Palos always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pacheco only posted an OBP of .087.
Dos Palos' first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Chowchilla, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Dos Palos' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Chowchilla hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. It's a different story for Dos Palos, though, as they've only averaged .189. Will they be able to contain Chowchilla's hitters?
Chowchilla skirted past Dos Palos 6-5 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Does Chowchilla have another victory up their sleeve, or will Dos Palos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
