University has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Beckman Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. University has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 289 points over their last four contests.
University pushed their score all the way to 81 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 88-81 to Sage Hill. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Friday (73), University still had to take the loss.
Despite their loss, University saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Christian Debarge, who scored 28 points along with nine assists and two steals, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Bogard, who went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and 0 assists.
Meanwhile, Beckman's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They took a 64-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Woodbridge. While losing is never fun, Beckman can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 291st, while Woodbridge is ranked 142nd).
University has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for Beckman, their loss dropped their record down to 12-12.
University came up short against Beckman in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 72-64. Can University avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
