The W.S. Neal Eagles will head out to take on the Jackson Aggies at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. W.S. Neal is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
W.S. Neal lost 15-5 to Florala on Thursday. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly ten runs.
W.S. Neal got a good showing from Paris Howard, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Howard has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, W.S. Neal saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lily Dubose, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Jackson got themselves on the board against John Carroll Catholic on Saturday, but John Carroll Catholic never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Cavaliers. The Aggies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 contests by six runs or more this season.
Zoey Rooks was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. Rooks was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one triple.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Autumn Rocker, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Kristen Yeager was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Jackson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as John Carroll Catholic only posted a batting average of .200.
Jackson has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for W.S. Neal, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-11.
W.S. Neal suffered a grim 19-1 defeat to Jackson when the teams last played back in March. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
