The Moon Area Tigers fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Upper St. Clair Panthers on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 43-42 to the Panthers. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Despite the loss, Moon Area saw an underclassman step up: Paul Bronaugh rushed for 234 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries. Bronaugh's longest rush was for an incredible 86 yards. Josh Bladel also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Upper St. Clair to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mason Chambers, who rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Hellmann, who threw for 146 yards and two touchdowns.
Moon Area now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Upper St. Clair, their win was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-2.
Moon Area will take on Baldwin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Baldwin has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since August 25th. As for Upper St. Clair, they will head out on the road to face off against South Fayette at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Fayette will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 97th, while Upper St. Clair is ranked 26th).
