Belleview is on a three-game streak of home losses, Lake Weir a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Belleview Rattlers will take on the Lake Weir Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Saturday, Belleview ended up a good deal behind Palatka and lost 58-43. While losing is never fun, Belleview can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 687th, while Palatka is ranked 158th).
Demarcus Mcdaniel put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Wilson, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Lake Weir was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 57-52 to North Marion.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from John Smith, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals. He also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Amari Kiner, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Belleview's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Lake Weir, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
Belleview took a serious blow against Lake Weir when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 83-37. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Belleview was down 39-19.
