Spring Grove is 2-7 against Dallastown since September of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Spring Grove Rockets will be playing at home against the Dallastown Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Spring Grove unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They were beaten by William Penn 66-36. While losing is never fun, Spring Grove can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 284th, while William Penn is ranked 88th).
Cowan Ruhland put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 169 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.9 yards per carry. Ruhland's longest rush was for an incredible 78 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Nizeah Mummert, who rushed for 42 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Dallastown humbled Dover with a 51-13 victory.
Dallastown's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Shamar Smith, who rushed for 165 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. Christopher Cromartie was another key contributor, rushing for 103 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.
With Spring Grove's defeat and Dallastown's win, both teams now sport identical 3-5 records.
Spring Grove might still be hurting after the 60-40 defeat they got from Dallastown in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Will Spring Grove have more luck at home instead of on the road?
