The Bay Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They lost to Moss Point on the road by a decisive 55-36 margin. If Bay hoped to take revenge for the 38-23 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Moss Point's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alejandro Montalvo, who scored 18 points along with three steals. Montalvo hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. Another player making a difference was Kevon Ford, who scored seven points.
Bay has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-19 record this season. As for Moss Point, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-11.
Bay won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Petal at 3:30 p.m. on January 27th. Petal presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Bay in Mississippi (Petal is ranked 72nd, while Bay is ranked 251st). As for Moss Point, they will be playing at home against Greene County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Greene County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday.
