Unaka is 9-0 against the Buccaneers since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Unaka Rangers will look to defend their home court against the University Buccaneers at 6:30 p.m. University took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Unaka, who comes in off a win.
Last Tuesday, Unaka made easy work of the Indians and carried off a 51-30 win. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Unaka has managed all season.
Unaka's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alisha Harrell led the charge by scoring 11 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Katlyn Dugger, who scored nine points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, University's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Tuesday after their tenth straight loss. They took a hard 42-28 fall against Washburn. While losing is never fun, University can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 390th, while the Pirates are ranked 168th).
Unaka's win bumped their record up to 5-16. As for University, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-12.
Unaka was able to grind out a solid win over the Buccaneers when the teams last played back in January, winning 37-26. Does Unaka have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Buccaneers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
