The West Jefferson Roughriders will head out on the road to square off against the Fairbanks Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Fairbanks took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on West Jefferson, who comes in off a win.
West Jefferson fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They walked away with a 46-37 victory over Catholic Central on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Fairbanks was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Monday as they fell 44-38 to Cedarville.
Despite the loss, Fairbanks got a solid performance out of Rachael Hoover, who scored 12 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Mara Vicari, who scored nine points.
West Jefferson's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Fairbanks, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.
West Jefferson came up short against Fairbanks in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, falling 40-36. Can West Jefferson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
