The Wolcott RVT Wildcats will head out to challenge the Platt RVT Panthers at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. Wolcott RVT will be strutting in after a victory while Platt RVT will be coming in after a defeat.
On Wednesday, Wolcott RVT made easy work of Wright Tech and carried off a 13-2 win. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Daniel Mazzetti made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jason Miller, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brody Nadeu, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Platt RVT's offense. They came up short against Wilcox RVT on Wednesday, falling 8-0. The match marked the first time this season in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.
Wolcott RVT's record is now 10-5. As for Platt RVT, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Wolcott RVT has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Platt RVT struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Wolcott RVT took their win against Platt RVT when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 13-6 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
