For Jacob Taylor, the 2012 season was a year of major accomplishments, but it was also a year of "what might have been."
Taylor's Rim of the World team finished the season with a 34-31 win over Ontario Christian to capture the Southern Section East Valley Division championship. Taylor had 264 yards rushing in the game and became just the second player in state history to rush for more than 4,000 yards in a season.
With 4,036 yards, Taylor had an outside shot at breaking the state record for rushing yardage in a season, which is 4,495 yards by Ventura's Tyler Ebell. Taylor's team would need to be selected for the CIF Southern California Regional Bowl Championship for him to have a chance, but ultimately the CIF committee chose Monrovia and Madison to vie for a berth in the Division III Bowl Game.
Nevertheless, the honors poured in for Taylor. Besides being named East Valley Division MVP, he was also named the San Bernardino Sun's Player of the Year and he was
named to the Riverside Press Enterprise All-Area Team.
Now Taylor picks up another award as he is named the MaxPreps California Division III State Player of the Year.
Following are the rest of the California Division III All-State players.
