The Freeman Scotties lost against the Deer Park Stags back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The contest between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with Freeman falling 61-43. They have not had much luck with Deer Park recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Freeman's loss came despite strong showings from Taylee Phelps and Avery Gass. Phelps scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, while Gass scored 13 points. Phelps is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Brooke Berglund, who scored two points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Freeman now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Deer Park, they pushed their record up to 8-0 with that victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.
Freeman will take on Newport at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday. Newport comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Deer Park, they will head out on the road to face off against Lakeside at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Washington (Lakeside is ranked 44th, while Deer Park is ranked 25th).
