If the Lakota Raiders were riding high off their 43-22 takedown of the Hopewell-Loudon Chieftains last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The contest between Lakota and the Senecas wasn't particularly close, with the Raiders falling 47-31. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Lakota came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 199th, while the Senecas are ranked 465th).
Alyssa Rishty was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds for Calvert. That makes it three consecutive games in which Rishty has scored at least a third of Calvert's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Coleman, who scored 15 points.
Lakota's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Calvert, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakota will take on the Blue Jackets at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. New Riegel is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Calvert, they will be playing at home against the Wildcats at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. Woodmore is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
