The Poudre Impalas lost against the Fossil Ridge Sabercats back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Poudre's tough 42-16 defeat to Fossil Ridge might stick with them for a while. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Poudre in their matchups with Fossil Ridge: they've now lost four in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Poudre lost, one person who can't be blamed is Matthew Manss. Despite the final result, he rushed for 96 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries.
Leading Fossil Ridge to victory were Nick Kubat and Colton Pawlak. Kubat threw for 264 yards and three touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes, while Pawlak gained 121 total yards and three touchdowns. Pawlak was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 60 yards. Marcus Mozer also helped out with an impressive 141 receiving yards.
Poudre's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Fossil Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 5-5.
Poudre does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Fossil Ridge will head out on the road to face off against Castle View at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
