It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Ponte Vedra Sharks had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They blew past the Golden Eagles 72-52. Winning may never get old, but Ponte Vedra sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Sam Ritchie was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with six rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Cowan, who scored 12 points.
Despite the loss, Fleming Island had strong showings from Carson Crawford, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds, and George Hamm, who scored 22 points. Crawford hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for 12 straight games.
Ponte Vedra is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. As for Fleming Island, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-12.
Ponte Vedra's road trip will continue as they head out to face Oakleaf at 7:00 p.m. on February 10th. Oakleaf will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Ponte Vedra surely won't give up without a fight. Fleming Island does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
