The Dunmore Bucks will challenge the Elk Lake Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
On Wednesday, Dunmore needed a bit of extra time to put away Western Wayne. They had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 7-6. The victory was nothing new for the Bucks as they're now sitting on four straight.

Mason Stets made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bobby Hoban, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.
Meanwhile, Elk Lake sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Carbondale Area on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now won four in a row.
Logan Ayotte was excellent, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Austin Brown was another key player, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with two stolen bases.
Elk Lake pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Dunmore, their win bumped their record up to 16-3.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Dunmore has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .460. However, it's not like Elk Lake struggles in that department as they've averaged .455. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Dunmore took their victory against Elk Lake in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 11-4 score. Will the Bucks repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
