The Edinburg Bobcats will head out to square off against the Los Fresnos Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Edinburg barely beat Edcouch-Elsa the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bobcats were the clear victors by a 35-10 margin over the Yellowjackets on Thursday. That looming 35-10 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bobcats yet this season.
Aidden Sanchez looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 136 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 33 yards. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024.
Edinburg didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Edcouch-Elsa to a completion percentage of just 50%. The Bobcats weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 63.6%.

Edinburg didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Moises Hernandez, Isaiah Cisneros, and David De La Garza picked up one apiece. Hernandez is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in each of the last 14 games he's played dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Los Fresnos). They blew past Pharr-San Juan-Alamo, posting a 66-16 victory. The Falcons' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Edinburg better keep an eye on Robert Pineda. He was instrumental in Los Fresnos' win, rushing for 22 yards and three TDs, while also throwing for 129 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Tyler Stachowiak, who rushed for 74 yards and a pair of scores.
Edinburg's record now sits at 3-1. As for Los Fresnos, their record is now 4-0.
Edinburg might still be hurting after the 38-14 loss they got from Los Fresnos in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Pineda, who rushed for 123 yards and four TDs, and also threw for 151 yards on 13 of 21 attempts. Now that the Bobcats know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
