Forge Christian hasn't had much luck against The Academy recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Fury will be playing at home against the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
The Academy will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Forge Christian extended their winning streak to five on Tuesday. Everything went the Fury's way against Jefferson Academy as they made off with an 18-2 victory.
Devyn Haines made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Rio Beck was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Maxine Rossi, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Forge Christian hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when The Academy took on Jefferson Academy on Friday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over the Jaguars. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won eight in a row.
The team relied heavily on Keara Pogue, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in September. The team also got some help courtesy of Harper Scott, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Forge Christian's victory bumped their record up to 16-3. As for The Academy, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Forge Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .429. However, it's not like The Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .346. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
