The Chisholm Trail Rangers will square off against the North Side Steers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chisholm Trail is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 36.5 points per game this season.
Chisholm Trail took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Everything went their way against Paschal as they made off with a 42-21 victory. Considering the Rangers have won three contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Xavier Rodriguez and Truman Shelton. Rodriguez had a great game and rushed for 163 yards and one TD while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Shelton did his best for the losing side, picking up 103 receiving yards, while also rushing for 41 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Chisholm Trail's defense and their seven sacks. Caleb Forester was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself.
Meanwhile, North Side was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of South Hills.
Chisholm Trail pushed their record up to 3-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.4 points on average over those games. As for North Side, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
Friday's matchup might be decided in the trenches. Chisholm Trail has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 260.5 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for North Side, though, as they've been averaging only 67 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Everything came up roses for Chisholm Trail against North Side in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 40-7 win. Will the Rangers repeat their success, or do the Steers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
