1A Region 4 recap Oct. 3, 2012
Mount Olive was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from 10th to eighth in 1A Region 4. The Pirates defeated Hartfield Academy 32-7 earlier in the week.
Bogue Chitto extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Salem, 34-7. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Anthony Moore was the most productive running back in the league this week. In six carries, he ran for 130 yards as Stringer bested Resurrection Catholic. Teammate Tevin Moore added to the ground attack by rushing for 91 yards.
Avary was the best wideout in 1A Region 4 this week as the Red Devils defeated the Eagles. Avary tallied one reception for 70 yards. Lazarius Jones helped Stringer's passing attack out by catching one ball for eight yards.
TaeTae Smith put up the best numbers through the air as the Wildcats lost to Bogue Chitto. He finished with a total of six completions for 115 yards and one touchdown. Smith's favorite target this week was David Carr, who caught three passes for 66 yards.
Gareth Sartin's team's Brock Roberts and Germie Martin have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Roberts has thrown for 662 yards this season, while Martin has 26 catches for 445 yards. Hinds County Agricultural's Aaron Terrell leads the league in rushing yards with 679.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Dexter takes on Stringer. The Bulldogs are currently in third, while Marlon Brannan's team is in second.
