Meanwhile, Triton lost to Terry Sanford on the road by a decisive 52-38 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, Triton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 234th, while Terry Sanford is ranked 85th).
Smithfield-Selma bumped their record down to 0-7 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Triton, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Smithfield-Selma was dealt a bruising 87-0 loss at the hands of Triton in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Can Smithfield-Selma avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
