Willamette and South Eugene are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Willamette Wolverines will head out on the road to take on the South Eugene Axe at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Willamette has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while South Eugene will arrive with five straight victories.
Willamette suffered their biggest loss since December 5, 2023 on Thursday. Their tough 57-31 loss to Grants Pass might stick with them for a while. Even though South Eugene has not done well against North Medford recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. South Eugene enjoyed a cozy 79-65 win over North Medford. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Willamette's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for South Eugene, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
Willamette came up short against South Eugene when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 63-56.
