The Andrews Wildcats won the last time they faced the Murphy Bulldogs, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Andrews walked away with a 60-51 victory over Murphy. Winning is a bit easier when you make five more threes than your opponent, as Andrews did.
Andrews' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cameron Rattler led the charge by dropping a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds. Rattler is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down 11 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Clark, who scored 16 points.
Despite the loss, Murphy still got an impressive performance from Dominick Rummler, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Zach Skogen, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.
Even though they lost, Murphy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Andrews' victory bumped their record up to 17-5. As for Murphy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-8.
Andrews will head out on the road to square off against Hayesville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Andrews focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday. As for Murphy, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Highlands at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. Highlands will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Murphy surely won't give up without a fight.
