If the Elizabeth Minutemen were feeling good off their 52-25 takedown of the Weequahic Indians on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Elizabeth fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 47-45. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Elizabeth of the 46-43 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Despite the loss, Elizabeth still got an impressive performance from Alexandra Koon, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 16 rebounds. Koon hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for ten straight games. Alani Gordon was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Elizabeth's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Cranford, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elizabeth's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Lions at 4:00 p.m. on February 1st. Cranford will take on the Pioneers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. New Providence is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
