Softball Recap: Kimball Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Kimball not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 7, 2024. Everything went their way against the West Wolfpack as they made off with a 16-3 victory. With that win, the Jaguars brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Alexa Contreras made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off three home runs, seven RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-3. Those three home runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kimball let Saige Dodds and Kaeliana DePerio run wild. Dodds went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double, while DePerio went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. DePerio is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Briez Dodds was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Kimball always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory (which was Kimball's fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for West, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kimball will welcome Lodi at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Flames' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Jaguars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for West, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tracy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolfpack will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least ten runs in their last five matchups.
