The Centennial Patriots will head out to take on the Ridgevue Warhawks at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Centennial's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Ridgevue's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Centennial is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Owyhee, who was ranked first at the time (Centennial was ranked 11th). The Patriots fell just short of the Storm by a score of 8-6 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Patriots have suffered since May 2, 2024.
Meanwhile, Ridgevue gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Capital as they made off with a 12-4 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warhawks.
Jameson Deitz made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Preston Wade looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Ridgevue got a massive performance out of Chance Schreiber, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Luke Wonderlich, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Ridgevue was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Capital only posted a batting average of .231.
Ridgevue's record now sits at 9-7-1. As for Centennial, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-5.
