The Greenville Hornets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Canton on the road and fell 71-32. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Greenville has scored all season.
Greenville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gymanuel Wells, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Tamarion Rhodes, who scored six points along with four steals.
Greenville has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Canton, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Greenville will challenge Cleveland Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cleveland Central presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Greenville in Mississippi (Cleveland Central is ranked 16th, while Greenville is ranked 146th). As for Canton, they will head out on the road to face off against Yazoo City at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Yazoo City is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
