Prairie View and Brighton are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2015, but likely not for long. The Thunderhawks will head out on the road to square off against the Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Prairie View is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.
Prairie View is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over Boulder on Tuesday. With that win, the Thunderhawks brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Jerry Stone made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Stone was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Jael Peralta was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two). Romani Perez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Prairie View kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.9 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 10.2.
Meanwhile, Brighton got themselves on the board against Northglenn on Tuesday, but Northglenn never followed suit. They blew past the Norsemen 12-0. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bulldogs considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Nolan Engle was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Sickler, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Prairie View's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Brighton, their record is now 7-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Prairie View hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Brighton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Prairie View beat Brighton 4-0 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Thunderhawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
