Westview extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Monday, dropping them down to 0-6. They lost 16-7 to the Milan Bulldogs. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 29, 2025, but that streak is no more.
Sarah Byars was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenlynn Matte, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
As for Milan, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games.
On Milan's side, Mia Pearson and Camryn Green were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Pearson struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Meanwhile, Green struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Pearson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Pearson went 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Green went 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Green has posted over her last six games.
In other batting news, Maycee Masters was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Rylee Hensley, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-5.
Looking ahead, Westview will venture away from home to challenge Peabody at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Milan, they will take on Camden Central at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
