The Florence Huskies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 75-60 fall against James Irwin. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, Florence saw an underclassman step up: Jaret Lozano scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. That's the first time this season that Lozano scored 15 or more points. Gage Goodall was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds.
James Irwin got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Logan Werner out in front who scored 25 points along with nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Matthew Lebron, who scored 24 points along with five assists and four steals.
Florence bumped their record down to 4-8 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for James Irwin, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Florence will take on Banning Lewis Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for James Irwin, they will head out on the road to square off against Colorado Springs School at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Colorado Springs School is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
